FEATHERS FUR AND FUN!!!
Last Friday the Strathalbyn Lady Golfers hosted their annual Gala Day and what a day it was. The theme for this year was Feather and Fur Fantasy. Creative thinking came to the fore, and lots of fur coats, hats, feather boas, lots of leopards, pussy cats, even a Indian chief with a spectacular feather head piece was present.
A very large field of 68 players hit off in cool, damp conditions. The course was in magnificent condition, with just enough rain to soften ground for ideal playing conditions. The sun managed to pop out for most of the morning, and the rain held off until almost all players had finished their round.
Bookie “Robbie Waterhouse” and his mates were present on the tricky 6th hole and pitted themselves against the players, winning some and losing a little also. To make the pain a little easier for the players, they had the opportunity to indulge in the yummy Langhorne Creek port on offer before teeing off.
The meal that was served after the game, followed the theme of Fur and Feathers, with the menu being Wombat Stew and Buttered Crow.
Winners of the day where girls from Willunga and the Nett Winners were from McLaren Vale.
The members of Strathalbyn club can give themselves a big pat on the back for hosting such a successful day. It was a great team effort, as being such a small club, we all have many tasks to do, and it is such a pleasure to see everyone working together to make it such a fun day. THANKYOU EVERYONE.
