Gordon on a high with 42 points.

What a magic morning greeted the 27 starters at the Strathalbyn Golf Course last Saturday to play the Stableford competition with four players over the 40 points mark and plenty of other high scores recorded.

Gordy Robson had a day out to win the comp with a high 42 points, 21 on both the front and back 9's also nearest the pin on the 8th.

He started the day with a Par on the first two holes and also one putted both and never looked back from there.

The President Randall Pitt with 37 points was the A grade winner with Sean Naylon runner up and also nearest the pin on the 6th with 35 points.

"Did anybody see where my ball went?" Brian Simpson on a count back from Dave Klenke winner in B grade with 39 points.

Brian chipped on to within one meter of the 1st hole only to three putt and was already talking of giving up bit rallied to end up a winner.

Dave Klenke also had a good day out with 39 points to be runner up.

When the Captain presented the C grade awards he stated that for three players to all end up on 41 points and a count back to decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd is very rare.

Dennis Gatehouse was declared the winner with Perry Jones runner up.

Dennis spent Thursday in Melbourne watching the Presidents Cup, USA vs The Internationals play golf and said he was an inspired man playing his round of golf, well that;s what he reckons.

Perry found Inspiration from his usual sidekick "Willy" to also had 41 points, "Willy" having his best Stableford round for years with 37.

Kingsley was the unlucky one in C grade to also have 41 points and even though nearest the pin on the 15th, , but also lucky he was not KO'd from a Des Kelly wayward drive from the third as he was about to chip on the second hole.

The 8th hole was "special" for the group of Graeme Bertholini, Gordy Robson and Kingsley Handke, with Berties chipping in for a two for four points, Gordy nearest the pin three for three and Kingsley well just three for three.

Mark Condon used his driver on the 12th hole to tee off then left it leaning against the clubhouse when distracted by by something and wandered of down the fairway finished out the hole walked across to the 13th tee block, realised where his driver was.

His playing partner Nobby reckons he used his three wood to tree off to perfection resulting in paring the next four holes and bogied the last two, but Condo that's what good players do.

Tim Formby broke the handle on his putter after leaning on it while watching his playing partners putt out, it's probably as old as you Tim.

He borrowed a used one from the clubhouse which didn't affect your game as you still came in with 38 points to finish fourth in B grade.

What was Jamie McPhee doing hitting backwards on the seventh hole?, probably the best shot you did all day.

Anyway Jamie it had the effect on Berties because he had an "Airy" on the 12th fairway.

Chris Barker how about letting someone else win the meat tray raffle, two weeks in a row you have won it.

Good golfing, Stroke round next week.
