Big day out for Mark Lynn

Mark Lynn has been hiding in the shadows on the trees lately but not last Saturday in the stableford competition, out in the open for a score of 39 points to win the day.

Mark mentioned that he only scratched one hole during his round and missed only one fairway, as everything happened to work for him.

Rumour has it that new golf shoes and special new balls have cured his golfing woes, until next time out.

Mark certainly was rewarded for his win in taking the prize from sponsor of the round Derek Keane and also winning the meat tray raffle, and was last seen heading out the door with a big grin on his face, the question apparently asked what else would work for him that night.

The winner of A Grade was the reliable Troy Williams with 38 points, he going around with his son Lachlan on the day and Jamie McPhee.

Troy and Lachlan are both in A Grade, the latter only getting 28 points, so did dad give his son a lesson on how to play golf?

Speaking of Jamie McPhee, after his tee off on the twelfth, a bit off target, moved over to the eighth with his remote control buggy approaching the ladies playing that fairway.

Di Krutli commented on his remote control so Jamie pointed the remote device at her and said it could even work on her and obviously it did as Di started dancing around to the amusement of all.

In B Grade besides Mark Lynn coming in with 39, Michael Clarke had a good round of 35 from Red Sorrell and Ryan Carpenter on 34, while in C Grade, having nineteen of the thirty eight starters, Tony Cash scooped the pool with 37, winning the Maidement's Meat Voucher with 20 points on the front nine, Andrew Smith next best with 36

Tony was also doing a bit of scooping on the sixteenth much to the amusement of Dave Pryor (who couldn't make the ladies tee on a few occasions), Kingsley Handke and Brian Simpson.

Brian, always full of advice, reckoned that Tony, up past the gobble bush on the corner with his second shot, could make the green with his third, wrong again Brian with Tony going into the dam then dropping the ball on the edge of the dam to go straight back in next shot.

With this he put his club in his bag on his cart and drove up to the green to watch and laugh as the rest of the crew also scratched the hole.

Kingsley should have known where to the hit the ball on the day as he was out mowing during the week and apparently finding it too cold to do the job properly on the fairways so that there was a V shape leading up to the greens for good direction, obviously he didn't take advantage of that help with only 27 points on Saturday.

It must be mentioned that Derek Keane had an eagle on the eleventh the Wednesday before as his drive was 100 meters short of the green and his chip shot rolled in, obviously he had lost his touch by Saturday with just 28 points or was it because he spent many hours mowing in the cold on Friday and was still thawing out.

Trevor Calaby was at it again last Saturday, this time by trying to get Des Kelly disqualified, as after having had his shot walked over to the buggy and put his club back in his bag.

Unfortunately it was Des' bag giving him 15 clubs and leaving Des to try and explain to the captain, about Cal's memory lapse, all was well.

The Captains Cup is done and dusted with Chris Barker the winner playing consistent golf to beat Sean Naylon 4/3, yep Sean runner up again this season.

Once again the call out for all players to put their full names on their scorecards, blackboard, and markers for longest drive, nearest the pin etc, as nick names are making it hard for the captains and others to work out the winners or scores, could be one might miss out on a prize.

Just a reminder of the presentation night on Saturday November 14th to leave names with captains or at the bar, if attending and of the annual general meeting the next day at 2:00pm.

This Saturday is the start of the Summer Competition with a stableford round, normal Saturday times to apply at this stage.
