It was a good roll up again on another wintry type day to play in a stableford competition and at last the president Randall Pitt was able to strut around as a winner, collecting 38 points.
Randall must have thought he played well as when receiving his winners prize donated by Nobby graciously replied it was well deserved.
Apparently it was a fairly boring day as Randall went around with DK and Tim Formby, all high up in the points, although DK was grizzling all day that his putts were popping in and out and that he should have won the day if they stayed in.
In B Grade the winner turned out to be David Klenke with a solid score of 36, while in C Grade Peter McNulty was at the top again with 34 points, don't know how he is still in C Grade.
Brenton Welk turning up wearing a Richmond jumper which saw plenty get stuck into him about that but still managed a creditable 31 points, very happy to get over Welk Creek both times and when placing his name on the board had changed his name to Dusty (Martin) Welk.
It appears the co-captaincy has taken it's toll on Andrew Pavy and Graeme Bertholini, they the only A Grade players not to crack the 30 mark on Saturday, could be that they are looking after their handicap, or were annoyed during their round by Jamie McPhee, who at least went out in sympathy with Andrew who went into the dam, by going in himself.
There was another A Grader who wasted his time going around as he couldn't remember his name to go with his card of 35 points, is that right Phil?
Ian Schroeter must have plenty of balls as he lost three of them on his round to finish with 25 points, explaining he had no idea where they went, and it was no good asking his partner Kooka who also had no idea where his shots were going in finishing with just 4 points for his round.
In B Grade only two players didn't make the 30 mark, both respected volunteers who mow the greens and surrounds, obviously not cutting where their shots landed to give them a bit of help.
Apparently C Graders Kingsley Handke and Ashley Gibson did their best to put A Grader Tory Williams off his game with their strange array of shots but it didn't work with Troy runner-up in A Grade.
Kingsley also mention that on his way out to golf in the rain he saw Brian Simpson and Dave Pryor heading back to town, must have been thought better to save their energy until Monday when they along with Kingsley went down to South Lakes to play with former club member Bruce Binney and by the sounds of it would have played just as well in the wet at Strathalbyn.
In the Captain's Cup semi finals it was Sean Naylon getting the edge over Mark Condon late to win 2/1, while in the other match Chris Barker was an easy 6/5 winner over Brenton Roberts, who must have had his afternoon bowls on the mind.
The final will be played this Saturday starting at 11:00am.
Just a reminder that the presentation night will be held on November 14th. at a cost of $25 per head for a Steak Dinner with salads, potato bake and dessert, please leave your name and numbers coming at the bar.
