Matthew Roberts is fast approaching the ranks of A Grade after he blitzed the field in last Saturday's stableford competition coming in with 46 points.
On his way to scoring 46 points Matt scratched the seventh hole around the dam and had one birdie, scoring 21 points on the first nine and then 25 on the second nine.
This effort saw him lose four shots off his handicap now sitting on just 14, just one off of being classed as an A Grader.
In the A Grade the winner was the current club champion Andrew Hentschke with 35 points from Derek Keane, back in better form with 34, as was Chris Barker, while in B Grade Des Kelly was one 37 from Ryan Carpenter on 36 points and in the C Grade Damien Nettle, back after some forgettable rounds before, was on top with 34 to also win the Maidment's Meat prize for the best on the front nine with 22 points, tipping out Andrew Smith and Peter McNulty, both on 33.
Brenton Roberts was well behind Matt with just 33 points, having a bit of trouble with his memory after phoning his lads Matthew and Tyson that they were needed to be ready to tee off before nine so he could play bowls in the afternoon.
Then while playing couldn't find his phone thinking he dropped it in the paddock at home, so was asking several people to use the lost phone app to locate it.
Luckily another group found it sitting on the air conditioner unit outside the clubhouse on the third tee block.
Some say Des Kelly should be playing A Grade as he hit that many trees on his round and like A Graders do his ball kept coming back onto the fairway.
He even had the nerve on the par three fifteenth to say that he was going to miss the big tree on the right near the green, land on the path and finish on the green for an easy par which is what happened.
Randall Pitt showed plenty of accuracy on the hobbit hole, left just 170 out from the green after his tee shot and then his ball next shot went straight as a die about one foot high straight into the hobit's hole in the tree.
It was good to see Peter Potbury going around again after a couple of broken wrists, hopefully they were set back in the right position as he won the NAGA award from Kooka with 15 points.
While Leigh Hiscock was able to chuck an airie on the ninth, Kim Wittwer, apart from picking up a birdie on the fifteenth, the same hole that John Lee using the brand new fairways mower the day before got it bogged, also had the privilege of being nearest the pin second shot.
He was also showing pictures of giving his daughter driving lessons up north and how they got the car bogged and had to be towed out, similar to most of his other driving lessons on Saturday, hitting tree after tree, to finish with 30 points.
Ryan Carpenter had a good day with 36 points as he broke in his new clubs, while Chris Barker picked up an eagle on the third hole, could have been one of the eagles circling Brian Simpson and Kingsley Handke, in the same area, more likely to be vultures as they struggled around the course.
There were a few comments when Karen Robson won the meat tray, dropping the tray when getting it out of the fridge and hiding the sausages in the process, it is believed husband Gordon was asking if one of them was his.
This Saturday it is another stableford competition and the quarter finals on the Captains Cup with the following tee times.
