Michael Beasley tops the list with 43

Despite the hot weather on Saturday, it didn't deter Michael Beasley for being the overall winner of the day for the first time, when he came in with 43 stableford points.

All forty golfers were smart on the day, a majority hitting off well before 8 a.m, one Max Schebella who had a reasonable round of 31 points, but it cost him in loosing his wallet, hopefully he found it again.

Back to the winner of the day and Michael said he had a good round with just one hole scrubbed for the day and picking up a birdie on the fifteenth, still saying he left plenty of putts on the green, as he went out in 21 and came home in 22.

There were quite a few good scores, Nobby the top in A Grade with 40 points, which included an eagle on the twelfth, Ryan Carpenter on B Grade also having 40 points, which in C Grade it was Michael Formby gaining 40 points.

Graeme Bertholini had a few feats on the day, he too getting an eagle, on the par five third, picking up a birdie on the sixth, also smart enough to hit off the tenth tee and almost able to catch the ball in mid air as it hit the tree and flew back to him.

Garieth Pitt who was another amongst the trees on the day, many times, with his big hits, seen there, at least two fairways from the one he was playing on.

Gordon Robson just about had nearest the pin second shot on the tenth but as he was bending down to shift the marker and put his name on the card, saw another ball trickle past him and beat his effort.

Kirk Richardson was the culprit as he was having a good day out, finishing with 38 points, and winning the meat tray raffle as well.

Brian Simpson as a noted poor putter on the greens and it wasn't much different last Saturday but he got a bit smart by chipping in from thirty meters, well that's what he said, on the fourteenth and then putting off the green sunk another one on the tenth for a birdie.

Tim Formby had an eventful day to finish with 31 points, with 19 on the front nine and just 12 on the back, able to putt in off the green on the seventh but still had a bogey after having seen his fourth shot go into the dam.

Tim also finished with a double bogey on the last, while Peter McNulty, on a rare occasion saw him finish last in C Grade, having had to scratch the last four holes on the front nine.

Derek Keane had more wayward shots than usual, his drive on the second managing to hit the first pine tree on the left with such force to see it land some thirty meters back towards the third fairway drain.

Not content with that effort Derek had a long drive down the third fairway and his partner asked him if he had ever had an eagle on that hole, Derek boldly stating that he had had several, and promptly finished with five for the hole.

Dennis Gatehouse was in the wars again seeing his second shot on the second end up behind the fifty meter mark.

As you do, he had a drop, so he thought he had a clear hit but he still managed to hit the marker, seeing the ball bounce back behind him onto the fairway, hitting Derek;s cart to then travel another fifty meters back down the fairway.

Dennis then had trouble with his tee shot off the sixth, the ball ending up behind the big tree on the right near the green.

He said he was about forty meters out, half that distance probably right, as he had a very nice chip out to see the ball run onto the green and drop into the hole, couldn't wipe the smile off his face for the rest of the day.

Des Kelly was also caught behind a tree on the sixteenth on the left hand side after his tee shot and he tried to do a Dennis Gatehouse shot, saying he had enough room in front of him to get past the big tree just up the track.

Wrong he hit the tree just missed his cart and landed thirty meters behind home, seeing him scratch the hole.

The club would like to extend birthday wishes to Perry Jones, Peter Potbury and Di Krutli hope you all had a great birthday.

Speaking of Perry Jones we wish Perry all the best in his future endeavors after the sale of The Southern Argus was finalised, does this mean Perry will be playing in both the Saturday and Wednesday competitions from now on?
